Japan World Film Festival (JWFF) is an international short film festival dedicated to live screenings only. We believe that true cinema is experienced together—through real audiences, shared emotions, and the magic of a darkened theater.

ジャパンワールド映画祭（JWFF）は、ライブ上映に特化した国際短編映画祭です。私たちは、映画の本質は「一緒に体験すること」にあると信じています。本物の観客と共有する感情、暗闇の中で響き合う拍手こそが、シネマの真髄です。

This year, we continue our journey as a traveling festival, bringing selected outstanding short films to various locations across Japan. Past editions have been held in Tokyo, Nagano, and Ibaraki, with audiences ranging from local communities to international visitors. Your film may be screened in intimate theater venues, where global stories meet Japanese cultural diversity.
本年度も旅する映画祭として、日本各地の会場へ厳選された優れた短編をお届けします。これまで東京、長野、茨城などで開催され、地元コミュニティから国際的な観客まで、多様な人々が集いました。あなたの作品は、親密な劇場や地域のホールで、世界の物語と日本の文化が交差する場で上映されるかもしれません。

We seek honest, powerful storytelling that leaves a lasting impression—stories that matter, whether dramatic, documentary, experimental, or animated. We especially welcome outstanding animation shorts, honoring Japan as the birthplace of world-class animation.

Founded by Tokyo Cinema Union in 2012, JWFF has built a reputation for genuine support of filmmakers. We have been honored to screen works featuring legends such as Gérald Depardieu and Naoto Takenaka, and to host talks by industry professionals like Yui Masayuki (Akira Kurosawa) and Hollywood producer Bruce Nachbar.
2012年に東京シネマユニオンによって設立されたJWFFは、映画監督を真摯に支援する場として信頼を築いてきました。ジェラール・ドパルデューや竹中直人さんが出演する作品の上映、油井昌由樹さんやハリウッドプロデューサー、ブルース・ナックバー氏のトークなど、名だたる方々とともに歩んでまいりました。

Submission Details 応募要項

Eligibility: Open to all filmmakers worldwide. Short films only (narrative, documentary, animation, etc.).
応募資格: 全世界の映画監督・制作者対象。短編映画のみ（ドラマ、ドキュメンタリー、アニメーションなど）。

Runtime: Maximum 30 minutes (including credits).
上映時間: 30分以内（クレジット含む）。

Language: Original language with English subtitles required (Japanese subtitles optional but welcome).
言語: 原語（英語字幕必須、日本語字幕推奨）。

Submission Period: January 10, 2026 – August 9, 2026
